shop accessibility information

Here are some of the physical access details of our space.

If you have questions about the accessibility of the shop, or you notice something that could be improved, please email us! We are open to learning, and doing better in our efforts to create a respectful and inclusive environment.

Shop Details (we are located at 2429 Main St):

OCB is on a single level, there are no steps to enter the front door.

When it is cold the shop door is closed. The door swings outward, and is 29" wide.

We DO NOT have A/C. When it is hot, we try to keep the shop cool with fans, but it is noticeably hotter inside.

We receive food twice weekly from Food Stash Foundation and put items at the front of the shop for everyone to enjoy. Sometimes these products contain dairy, gluten, and nuts.

During open hours (Weds-Sat 10am - 7pm, Sun 11am - 6pm) the shop can be crowded and noisy. We try to announce loud jobs, but the sounds of a running compressor, metal grinding, or tools dropping to the floor can happen at any time.

The shop is not scent-reduced. We use cleaning products including alcohol-based degreasers, which have strong odours. Masks are available.

Seating is limited, please ask one of our friendly staff for an arm-less folding chair.

Gloves, goggles, and ear protection is stored in bins behind the wheel rack, above the truing station (behind the assessment mechanic bench.)

There are hand cleaning products at the wash up station in the rear of the shop. One of these products is called "Organic Mechanic Hand Scrub" and it contains nut shells.

There is a bathroom at the back of the  shop. The door is 31" wide, and it is at the end of a 33" wide hallway.

There are three fire extinguishers in the shop: one at the front desk, one at the wash up station, and one in the back.

There is an eye wash station to the left of the sink.

PEDAL/OCB believes that everyone deserves access to information, education, employment, and recreational opportunities.

We recognize that barriers to accessibility are barriers to participation.

Ultimately, we seek to do our part in building a more inclusive cycling community and bike shop, where everyone has the chance to thrive and contribute their unique strengths. We are always adapting and working to improve the accessibility of our shop and programming in various ways.
