Our Community Bikes, with the support of Metro Vancouver, delivers bike repair events in schools across the region to provide students, teachers and parents with hands-on repair and maintenance skills while encouraging cycling and promotiong waste reduction through bike reuse and recycling.

Several bike repair events are available to schools

Bike Repair Cafe 

A Bike Repair Cafe is a two-hour pop-up repair station at your school. Students bring their bikes in for basic repairs, tune-ups, and to learn about bike maintenance and recycling. Students will gain knowledge of bike systems, tool use, and repair techniques. OCB provides two bike mechanics, tools, stands, parts, and materials. All bicycles, e-bikes and scooters are welcome (repairs to electronics are not supported). 

Bike Safety Workshop

A Bike Safety Workshop covers the ABCs of a bike safety check (air, brakes, chain), bike fit seat height assessment, and explains the systems of a bike (brakes and gears). Students bring bicycles to school and gain knowledge of basic safety maintenance, bike fit, and systems. OCB provides one mechanic, tools, stands, and materials for a one-hour workshop. All bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters are welcome.

Bike Swap 

A Bike Swap is an event for trading or swapping a bicycle for another bicycle. This event is ideal for students that have outgrown the size of their bike, and at schools that have already hosted a repair clinic and/or have a strong existing cycling culture at the school. OCB collaborates with the school to design a custom bike swap. OCB provides mechanics, tools, and swap structure.
