pedals for the people
Pedals for the People (PFTP) improves access to bicycles, parts, accessories and service for those who experience barriers to affordable forms of transportation. These popular initiatives bring together members of our community to donate funding, time, and energy to care for one another.
PFTP Free Bike Program
Through the help of volunteers and donors, we refurbish bikes, provide helmets, locks and lights, and subsidize annual repairs for people facing financial barriers. This program distributes 100 - 200 bikes every year and subsidizes thousands of dollars in repairs annually.

Russell Eyton Bikes for Kids
The Russell Eyton Bikes for Kids fund was established in 2021 by the Eyton family and friends to honour the life of Russell Eyton. While Russell faced many challenges - biking was the one thing that always made him feel alive. Gifts made in his memory ensure that children and youth who are facing poverty will receive their own bike and helmet to explore life on a bicycle - as he once did.
This fund has so far provided 243 bikes and helmets to kids in the community. Bikes have been distributed by Kidsafe, DIVERSEcity, and Red Fox Healthy Living Society through their summer camps accompanied with riding lessons.
