pedals for the people

Pedals for the People (PFTP) improves access to bicycles, parts, accessories and service for those who experience barriers to affordable forms of transportation. These popular initiatives bring together members of our community to donate funding, time, and energy to care for one another.

Oppenheimer Park Clinics

Image

Every Tuesday and Sunday from 11:30am-2:30pm, we have a team set up at Oppenheimer Park to provide basic tunes and adjustments on bikes, walkers and wheelchairs. Supporting over 60 people every month, clinics ensure members of the downtown eastside community get the mechanic support they need to stay mobile. Clinics are run in partnership with the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Coastal Health and supported by grant funding and private donors.

Russell Eyton Bikes for Kids

Image

The Russell Eyton Bikes for Kids fund was established in 2021 by the Eyton family and friends to honour the life of Russell Eyton. While Russell faced many challenges - biking was the one thing that always made him feel alive. Gifts made in his memory ensure that children and youth who are facing poverty will receive their own bike and helmet to explore life on a bicycle - as he once did.

This fund will provide around 200 bikes and helmets to kids over the next few years. Bikes are distributed by Kidsafe through their summer camps accompanied with riding lessons.
